Getting Close
I’m getting close to having a live website! We’re a few weeks away from being “in production.” It’s exciting and elicits the next set of mind-occupying challenges such as customer sales and site maintenance/improvement.
Upon initial launch, the site doesn’t visually appear as polished as I would have liked. This is a typical tradeoff with a “MVP” (minimal viable product), but also one I knew I was going to be up against after I saw the limited amount of design resources the dev firm assigned to the project. However, this dev firm is particularly technically skilled, so I did get some elements of functionality that I wasn’t expecting either. Even though I really appreciate the pursuit of clean and noteworthy design, I’m content with this early-stage tradeoff – especially as I plan to redesign and rebrand in the near future anyways.
Ways You can Help!
As we are near our launch, many of you have asked how you can help, which I do appreciate. Some of you have already sent some ideas you’ve had about the business and sent me the advertisements for competitors. All of these notes are already quite helpful.
Please, never hesitate to drop me an email with any thoughts you have. Here are some of the common areas in which you can be of help, if you choose to do so:
Be a customer – If you would like a video consultation; let me know if you’ve filled out a request form on our website and I will do my best to find an expert to fit your needs. Getting your unguarded feedback after these early sessions will be invaluable to me.
Be a critic – Following on the point above, don’t be shy about telling me things about the site you don’t like; especially where there is functionality that’s not working.
Be an advocate – I will especially need to find skilled and friendly tradespeople/experts. Your recommendations, even if 2nd degree, will be immensely beneficial.
Be an investor – This will only apply to some of you, and I will message about it separately. However, we will likely host a “friends and family” round in the next few months.
Be a recruiter – As the site develops and populates with customers, and the investment rounds conclude, I’ll be on the search for full-time and freelance employees. Your referrals of high-character, talented individuals will also help me tremendously.
Thank you for reading; look out for a live-site notice soon!
